Why choose a Specialist in Orthodontics over a General Dentist doing Orthodontics?
In California, General Dentists are allowed to practice Orthodontics even though they have received little or no training in Orthodontics in dental school. There is a big difference in the amount of training, coursework and hands on experience received by a Specialist in Orthodontics compared to a General Dentist. To become a Specialist in Orthodontics, dentists must complete two to three additional years of Orthodontic training from an accredited Orthodontic program in dental school after they have completed their regular dental school training.

In children and young teens, Orthopedic treatment can guide the growth and development of the jaws to correct growth discrepancies such as a severe Underbite, Overbite, or Crossbite.

It can help Prevent Cavities and Gum Disease by straightening your teeth to help keep your teeth clean.
